The Fall of 2017 has yielded incredible achievements.  First, a big congratulations goes to the 75 students who prepared and auditioned for the MCPS Junior Honors Band and Orchestra – a CJMS best. Their hard work and diligence have greatly bolstered the music program and helped sculpt an amazing advanced band and orchestra.   Of that 34 made the county program with an extra 7 making alternates.  Of that 15 made the Maryland All-State groups, with 3 alternates yet another school best! Way to go Cougars!

Congratulations to the CJMS Advanced Band and Orchestra for winning “Best Overall Band” and “Best Overall Orchestra.” at the “Music in the Parks Competition” held in Williamsburg on the weekend of May 5 & 6.  Both groups won their division for schools larger than 750 and also had the highest scores resulting in the overall awards. The Orchestra received a 95 average and the band a 98.5.  Way to go!

Congratulations to the Advanced Band and Orchestra for their stunning performances at the MCPS District Band and Orchestra Festivals.  Both groups received superior (I) ratings and praised for playing “highly artistic and musical performances.”
