Summer Packet - Students can earn points for awards and medals with summer practice and/or lessons. The summer packet is available on EDLINE.

Summer Lesson Scholarships Available  

Private lesson scholarships are available at CJMS to students who are seeking to learn a 2nd instrument, or who do not have a means for getting them elsewhere.  See the dates and times below.  E-mail Mr. Herman at  scott_m_herman@mcpsmd.org for a confirmation

Summer Private Lessons (highly recommended)

Many teachers will work with students on a summer only basis.  Private lessons can really give students a greater appreciation for music, and greatly improve their individual  skills.  You may find that lessons will work out in the school year.  The combination of lessons and a school ensemble experience is the best combination.  See the private teacher list on edline or view our Instructors page for more details (password needed).

Summer Camps

Looking for a summer camp?  The Maryland Classic Youth Orchestra has posted a list of summer camps which their members have attended recently.  Click here to view the summer camp list.  We also have info for the National Philharmonic String Camp, University of Maryland Camp,  Landon Camp, and Dematha Summer Band.
